David Lomax and Chris Wood, two of the industry’s best known experts in the quality timber windows and doors market, have joined forces to create Lomax + Wood Limited.

Lomax + Wood brings together many years of experience and much talent.  David Lomax, the well regarded and long established supplier of timber fenestration systems through Ambass-A-Door, the brand renown for supplying high quality products especially to the conservation and heritage sectors has taken the business to new heights in recent years. Paul Murray and Antony Alberti continue as directors and now with the additional expertise provided by Chris Wood, formerly the managing director of Mumford & Wood and son of one of the founders of that company, the new team is well positioned for continued growth in a challenging market.

“I am delighted to take the opportunity of buying into the new company,” says Chris Wood, managing director of Lomax + Wood Limited.  “David and I share the same business ethics of providing our customers with style, performance, excellent service and good value.  Together with my fellow directors we know that these are the attributes that help to make a successful business model.  I also look forward to continuing my relationships with existing customers and forging new ones with those looking for high performance windows with period sightlines.

“Our vision is to create a single fenestration and joinery brand serving architects, designers and developers of beautiful buildings and homes supplying not only timber windows and doors but all their bespoke joinery requirements – from a single source.”

The company believes that the foundation of the current offering, built on superb timber sliding sash windows, casements and external doors, is the perfect platform on which to grow the business as well as enable the progression into other joinery products in the near future.

Lomax + Wood use their own tried and tested in-house product designs that work so well for the British market together with experienced manufacturing partners.  The supply chain undergoes stringent and regular manufacturing audits that measure consistency in quality, performance and design detail as well as on-time delivery and competitive prices.  “It is essential that our customers have total confidence and peace of mind in our manufacturing processes,” comments David Lomax, director, Lomax + Wood, “and it is important to us that our reputation for being specialists in all aspects of our processes is maintained.  We are under no illusion that the market is difficult but we believe our growth is down to our flexibility to meet our customer’s requirements with bespoke quality products.”

In addition to beautiful sliding sash windows the Lomax + Wood product range also excels in the provision of high quality entrance doors, French and bi-fold doors, flush and stormproof casement windows for the conservation market.  The established ranges of high performance double and single glazed windows include traditional sash windows with cords and weights or the more economical spring balanced alternative.  The made-to-order door range is also the result of 60 years’ of manufacturing and service excellence.  “Both the Lomax and Wood families have supplied quality timber products since the early 1950s,” says David Lomax, “and both believe in providing premium products at competitive prices.”

Lomax + Wood products are CE-marked and manufactured only from sustainably sourced FSC certified timber.  The company is a member of the British Woodworking Federation and has sales offices and showrooms in South Kensington, London and from this Autumn in Ingatestone, Essex.
