Lomax + Wood had the honour of designing and producing a range of premium quality oak windows and doors for the Standard Groups first UK hotel. Lomax + Wood was selected, from the UK’s finest timber window specialists.
The Standard Hotel was presented at the Architecture Today Awards live finals on 7th November 2022 at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. The high-profile judging panel Was selected with the aim to bring a wide range of experience and knowledge.
the Architecture Today focusses on longevity. Unlike most awards programmes, the projects considered have been in use for at least three years and have shown to deliver on their environmental, functional, community and cultural ambitions.
The decision to renovate rather than demolish is what put the Standard Hotel in the lead for this award. More than 90 per cent of the existing structure has been retained. Temporary works were designed to become permanent, avoiding waste and ensuring optimum resource efficiency.
On Thursday 2nd March 2023, our clients were announced as one of the winners of the Architecture Today Awards for buildings that stand the test of time.
The Awards were given out in nine categories – The architects of The Standard Hotel were awarded winners of the Hospitality and leisure category.
Overall, the project was challenging but Lomax + Wood specialises in producing high performance, made-to-order timber windows and doors to meet our clients’ specifications and aesthetic requirements. Lomax + Wood is proud to have been part of an award-winning project.
