Lomax + Wood has been awarded a significant supply contract to provide 315 timber windows for a major restoration project at a historic school in Greenwich, London. This project will showcase Lomax + Wood’s expertise in the heritage refurbishment sector, more specifically our ability to create made-to-order timber windows that honour architectural heritage while improving acoustic and thermal performance.

St Ursula Convent School, situated within the West Greenwich Conservation Area, represents an important building of historical interest requiring sympathetic restoration. Despite not being listed, the building’s location demands windows that faithfully replicate the original designs while meeting modern performance standards.

Under the contract, Lomax + Wood will manufacture and supply the following products:

– 120 traditional box sash windows

– 190 flush casement windows

– 5 circular bullseye windows

All products will be crafted to exacting specifications, recreating authentic period sightlines while delivering the security, acoustic performance and thermal efficiency required in contemporary educational environments.

As with all of our products, sustainability will be a key focus: We are proud to hold both FSC® and PEFC Chain of Custody certifications, ensuring that all timber we use is sourced from responsibly managed forests. Unlike other timber manufacturers, we hold full Chain of Custody certifications – this gives the timber we use in our windows and doors full traceability from forest to finished product.

The bespoke manufacturing process ensures each window is tailored to the precise requirements of historical buildings, maintaining architectural integrity without compromising on modern standards.

Our specialised knowledge in conservation-compliant fenestration has established Lomax + Wood as a trusted supplier for historically significant buildings throughout the UK. The Greenwich school project highlights our capabilities in handling large-scale restoration work for institutional clients.
